Owner Christine du Preez moved her family to a smallholding in the Rietvlei area more than 30 years ago. She was intent on raising her five children to experience a more relaxed and natural lifestyle, rather than in an urban environment. Today her two boys and three girls have grown up, but Christine remains committed to the serenity and hospitality that country life has to offer.

In 2010, with the help of her sons, she built the thatched country manor of her dreams from which she launched the Rietvlei Country Lodge. Since then, the lodge has played host to more than 200 unique events, ranging from conferences and corporate events to weddings and other private parties, including high teas and cocktails.
